Valentines Blog Hop Week Three

It is week three for the Valentine Blog Hop!  Haven't you just loved all the new creative ideas posted by everyone!  I feel so inspired!  And Challenged to add more to my cards.

This is the card that I chose to enter into the hop this week.

I started with a basic black piece of cardstock.  The next layer is something called Shimmer Sheetz that I purchased from a local craft store.  I used a sanding block to sand off some of the Shimmer and this makes it clear and distressed looking.  You can see the black cardstock through the sheet and I love the look of it!  I embossed this sheet with Heart Blocks from cuttlebug, but it can be used with your Big Shot!!
Next I used the Heart Framelits to create a black heart and then stamped it with Whisper White and a stamp from PS I love you.  I cut out some hearts with the small heart Framlits and then ran them through the Hearts adorning accents folder.  Next I cut out some Glimmer Hearts silver and stamped out some tags and punched them out too!  I tied all of these on with Red and White Bakers Twine.  I added a piece of Organza Ribbon too.
Inside the card is a piece of WW and  I stamped the same image from the front in Real Red and a saying from Delightful Dozen!

Hope you enjoyed this card!

Do not forget to join in on the fun over on Shirleys Blog

A-La-Card Monkey #93

It's time for A-LA-Card-Monkey Sketch again!

I thought the sketch this week was perfect -- I have had this idea in my head for awhile now and the sketch just pushed me over the edge with my design
And how adorable is that little kitten???

So here is what I came up with for this sketch

I love how it turned out!  The base is Cherry Cobbler and standard card size.  The next layer is WW and I ran it through the Big Shot with a Non-Stampin Up! Embossing folder that is hearts and squares.  I them used our new Blushing Bride Smooch Spritz so that it is pink and sparkly.  I used my Piercing tool and mat pack to make holes in each side of the WW layer to add the Square Fire brads.
Next linen thread for the bows and the string for my banner.
I punched 4 WW doilies with the Doily punch and popped them up with dimensionals.
Multi coloured pink hearts were created with the Fashionable hearts sizzlit.  I popped them up on the Doilies and added a Basic Rhinestone to each one.
I added some pleated blushing Bride Ribbon and used a retired stamp set called Love you Much.  I coloured the image in with Stampin' Write markers in pinks again. I added another heart to the flower image.
I used a piece of Regal Rose and ran it through the Big Shot with the heart embossing folder from Adorning Accents.
Added some more Fashionable hearts and stamped Happy Valentines Day from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Hope you come and play along with us at A-La-Card-Monkey.

Valentines Blog Hop Week Two

Hello All!  Well its been a few days but my blog was being cranky!!!  Oh well these things happen.  Now on to the second week of Shirley Pumpkin's amazing Valentines Blog Hop
Hop on over to Shirley's Blog to check out everything!  You can also view cards from everyone who joins in and post your own creation from links at the end of this post!  So show us your loving side and share what you make!

This week I went with some non-traditional colours.  Confession I did not really like Calypso Coral when it first came out in fact I had not even opened my ink pad until someone I granted a wish for requested that colour.  It kind of grew on me when I played around with the inks and now I love it!!! And the New Sweet Shop DSP has me hooked even more!  Check below of a list of supplies used for this card and catalogue info as well.  You can head on over to my Stampin up! Site to order everything you need to make this card.

The base is Calypso Coral which I ran through the Letter Press Plate with Versa Mark.  Next I used the Scallop edge punch to create an edge detail.  I layered a piece of the DSP from Sweet Shop this one has a great raised heart image and adds great dimension to projects.  Next came Pool Party which I ran through the Big Shot with the scallop envelop die.
The hearts were created with the Fashionable Hearts Sizzlet available in the new Mini ( love these hearts they are embossed and cut all in one turn of the Big Shot!!!)  I made the hearts  with scraps of Early Espresso Card Stock, Calypso Coral and Glitter paper in Silver. Fab way to use up all those scraps of CS you have laying around - I mean nicely stored in folders!
I then punched a glitter heart with the large heart punch - a must have all year long!
Here is a closer shot of the Shimmer and cool embossed hearts.  I used the ruffled ribbon in Pool Party and popped up some of the hearts and the large heart with Dimensionals
On the inside I ran a 1 1/2 inch piece of Pool Party through the Letter Press with Heart Pressed again so that the colour Pool Party would show through the scalloped edge of the card.  I stamped a saying form PS. I love you it says Be My Valentine I used the I love you stamp on the front of the card.
This is the back of the card.  I do not usually show you this part because it usually is just my name stamp but they have a couple of cute stamps to mark your work with and I wanted you to see how cute this one is!

Hope you enjoyed the card! Now its your turn come play with us!!

A LA Card Monkey! #92

It's A LA Card Monkey Time again!
Here is the cute design we had to work from this week and it was anything goes!
How cute is that little owl!  If you check out www.alacardmonkey.blogspot.com you can play along and see all the cards that everyone came up with!  I love Shirley's card with the owl and the ice cream cone!  I can feel a case on that card!

So here is what I came up with this weekend for this Challenge.

Put your shades on this is a bright one!  So I started with the standard card size for the base in Whisper White.  The layers are Tempting Turquoise and then DSP from Big Top Birthday.   The greeting is from On Your Birthday and I used the stamp-a-ma-jig for the proper spacing the inks are Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise.
I punched a 2 3/8 Scallop Circle from Whisper White scrap card stock and ran this through the big shot with the polka dots embossing folder.  I sponged the edge with TT to add dimension.
I then used the Stamp set Create a Cupcake to create the cup of the cupcake and punched it out with the cute cupcake punch.  I stamped the frosting in Melon Mambo and punched it seperately as well.  The sprinkles were punched with scrap pieces of Tempting Turquoise and Silver glitter paper and attached with two way glue pen. I also popped up the icing and the whole element with stampin dimensionals.
I added some extra details to the inside of the card with DSP and the saying is from Create a Cupcake.

Hope you enjoy and play along with us at A La Card Monkey!

It the Valentines Blog Hop!!!

I know you have all been waiting for the next Blog Hop with my friend Shirley!
And here it is  Yippppie!!!
Special thanks goes out to Terry who designed this awesome Blog Button for the Hop!

Ok down to Business!
I love Valentines Day - ok so I love a lot of holidays but we always need a reason to use Pink and Red right!!  And this holiday takes the cake, all Red and White and Pink all over.

So my first card of the hop will be of course Red, White and Pink!

Not to sure what this fold is called  I call it Z fold. So I started with Real Red cardstock base of 4 1/4x11.  I used the simply scored to score the CS at 2 1/4 and 5 1/2.
Next I used the movers and shapers and the heart die to create the swinging heart in the center of the first fold.
I stamped WW hearts from Take it to heart.
The next step was to Stamp another heart on WW with one of the larger stamps in Pretty in Pink.  I used the new Framelits Hearts in the Occasions Mini to cut out the heart to fit into the heart shape on the card and decorated it with Dazzling Diamonds!
I used the new Adorning Accents Embossing folder with the hearts to create the small pink embossed image on the small front of the card.
I created the inside Card image with the Letter press for the Big Shot that says love.  I used Versa mark to enhance the letters on the Pretty in Pink Layer prior to running through the Big Shot.
I also used the Blushing Bride Pleated (gorgeous) ribbon to add details.

The heart images were punched with the Triple heart and punched from Red Glitter Paper!!!

Hope you love the card as much as I do and I hope you come play along with the hop.  Head on over to Princess Shirley's Blog for all the details

A LA Card Monkey!

It's A LA Card Monkey time again!

Our Challenge for this week was to haul out our new stuff!
So here we go
Here is the cute sketch we had to work with.

And here is the the card I was inspired to make.

I of course used the new edgelits from Stampin up for his project an I used the matching Bordering on Romance that match the Edgelits  so cool!
The DSP is from Berry Blossom and this is actually the first time I even opened it.
I used the beautiful new pleated ribbon in the New Mini .
The Flower is created with the Fun Flowers die for the Big Shot .  I spritzed with water and crunched them all up an let them dry.  Then I opened them and layered them together and secured with one of the new sale-a-bration brads and spritzed with Gold glow Smooch Spritz.
The inside of the card was stamped with Fresh Vintage and the saying was from Well Scripted.

Hope you like it and please join us at A-La- Card Monkey

Occasions Mini Products I heart them!

Can we say obsessed?   Yes a little -- I have been patiently waiting to post my creations until the mini was out.  They are just so exciting lots of Big Shot items that make life simple for crafters.

So this is a card I created for a card swap I participated in.  My challenge was to use the Candy Conversations stamp to create a card.  I started with a base of Crumb Cake and then used the Edgelits to cut that beautiful edge with my Big Shot then embossed it with our new embossing folders that match the edgelits die.
I used crumb cake to distress the edges of the card and then used Early Espresso to stamp the three hearts from Take it to Heart.  I stamped the Candy Conversation in EE as well.
I layered Wisteria Wonder that had been run through the polka dots embossing folder for the Big Shot.  I also rounded the edges on all layers to add more detail.
I used the small heart punch and silver glitter paper to add some sparkle to the card.
I added a piece of The Sweet Shop DSP to add detail to the inside of the card.
This stamp is one of the a-la-carte type of stamps which I do love but I have seen some other demos who have cut this stamp apart to use it separately on clear mounts -- hmmmmmm  not sure I have that much courage but its a great idea!!

Love is in the Air.....

For the new Occasions Mini!  I am so in love with so many of the stamps, the buttons the RIBBON just everything.  So, here is another post for you
This is a card I did for a swap so if you are in a swap with me you may receive on of these cards or we may be doing one for a girls card night so stay tuned!!!

This card is actually larger than a regular size card but that is ok my love is huge!
I started with Crumb Cake for the base and used I (love) Love Stampin Around Wheel and Versa Mark as well as my Stampin Up! wheel guide to get the lines straight and with no gaps.  I then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
I used Cherry Cobbler and Versa mark with clear for the Love phrase from You Are Loved  I punched that out with the Oval Punch then popped it up with Stampin Dimensionals on to the Frame from the same stamp set that was embossed with the same technique.
I used the Framelits Hearts to cut out the layered hearts for the front. The second heart was run through the Big Shot with the Polka Dots embossing folder.  The small hearts are from a New Sizzlits for the Big Shot -- sooooo cute!  They work just like the Butterfly one we have so they cut and emboss a texture on the hearts all at once.

The Center piece with the Stamp of the Boy and Girl on the Bike is a Fav of mine and is from the stamp set Take it to Heart. I used a cool technique on it to create all the different colours  within the stamp.  I coloured the stamp with markers!!  Then when you have your "master piece" created you  blow on the stamp to re-activate the ink and then stamp and Voila multi- tonal effect.  Stampin Write markers are just so awesome for this and of course they match my projects so there you go no need to worry where you will find ribbon, brads or anything to match.

The inside of the card continued with the heart theme with more sizzlit hearts.  And an embossed greeting as well.

Enjoy your morning and check back for more cool cards later today!

Happy First Day of the Occasions Mini!

With Sadness we say good bye to the holiday season and the Holiday Mini  :o(
BUT!  Stampin Up takes pity on us and offers us up a whole new Mini to brighten our winter blahs!
I think they hit a home run with this one too!  My creativity is exploding out of my head with all the new products.

I will post two cards I made over the last couple of weeks to celebrate and look for more to come.

First off is a card I created this morning for my Brother and his Fiancee!  So excited for them and their children!

I started out with an card base of Early Espresso cut at 41/4x11 then scored with Simply Scored at 5 1/2.  Then I used the new Edgelits and the Big Shot to create the boarder on the end of the card.  I Ran a 4x41/4 piece of Pool Party through the Big shot with The Elegant lines embossing folder and added Dazzling Diamonds to this.
Next I cut out a heart using the new Heart Framelits and the Big Shot and added flowers and pearls around it then Spritzed with Gold Glow smooch Spritz.

The sentiment for the front is a sneak peek of a Sale-a-bration item!!  I embossed this on Very vanilla and popped it up on a scallop oval with Stampin dimensionals.

I used Very Vanilla for the insert and edged this with a piece of DSP from the New Occasions Mini DSP Sweet Shop.  I embossed the saying on the inside from Curly Cute.
To match my embossing to my CS I first stamped in Versa Mark then onto my Early Espresso then added my Clear Embossing powder and heat set it.  Great way to save some money and space by not needing every colour of the rainbow embossing powder and yet it still matches all my Stampin up products.  LOVE this card I hope they will too.

Watch for another post today with another card created from New Occasions Mini Products

A LA Card Monkey! #89

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a fabulous time over the holidays!  We certainly did!  The highlight was spending time with family and FINALLY meeting my new Sister-in-Law to be Marnie!  LOVE HER!  Marnie has two children Cohen and Landon and they are just as wonderful!  So now I get to add a new niece and a new nephew to my list!!  Very exciting.

Here were are in 2012 and the first A LA Card Monkey for the year.  This is a new challenge for me, as I have only participated once but it is run my non-other than Shirley and Terry so how can I go wrong?

This is the sketch we had to work with and Fresh Start was the theme.  One of my resolutions this year is to make more Male type cards.  So this is my Fresh Start Card

So I started out with the idea that I wanted to use the new framelits from the Occassions Mini which starts today!  YAAAA!  as the center raised center.  I looked through my stamps and was astonished to find I had very few that you could call Masculine!  Then my fingers found Not So Seriously - and it all came together.
I used Scraps of DSP from Well Worn and Letters to Santa to create the quilt like pattern in the center.  I just used snail and attached them to a piece of scrap VV and cut both out at the same time with the Framelit.  I used Always artichoke for the larger framelit and VV for the Dog Stamp.
I coloured the dogs with Stampin Pastels and Blender Pens.
The sentiments inside and out are from Not So Seriously too.

I don't know the sayings in this set just crack me up!  Although my kids will tell you I am a little cracked already anyway!
Check out the rest of the challenge here

Look for more exciting posts this week showcasing new products from the Occasions Mini!  You are going to love them!
