A LA Card Monkey! Post 97

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  We are still recovering or trying to recover from the flu at our house.  Poor Jayden has missed a week of school and I am still not sure about tomorrow.
Anyway on to something fun!  A la card Monkey!

This week was a sketch plus anything goes!
Here is the sketch
I love this sketch and think I may be doing a couple of cards with this one this week.

Here is what I came up with
I went Basic Grey for the base and used the Edgelits and matching embossing folder and stamp for the edge of this simple card.  I used Perfect Plum for the middle band and embossed it with the Big Shot. I created the main image with the Apothecary Stamp set from the Occasions Mini.  I heat embossed the image with Black and then coloured the image with Perfect Plum, Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzaz.  The Phrase was added with dimensionals and heat embossed with versa mark then Perfect Plum and clear embossing powder.
Inside I stamped with the adorning accents and used and embossed piece of Perfect Plum that matches the front panel.

I hope you join us at A la card Monkey challenge.

A LA Card Monkey! 96

It is sketch number 96 over at A la card monkey and there is a hint of excitement as they approach sketch 100!  Look for blog candy and more coming soon.
Here is the sketch we had to work with this week and the theme is moments.  I love birthday moments so I chose to make a birthday card.

I chose tempting turquoise for my base and embossed it with a cuttle bug embossing folder.  Next I used a piece of Sweet Shoppe DSP and ran some real red through  the big shot with the Tasteful Trims big shot die from Stampin up!.  I used the Big Cupcakes die for my Cupcake image.  The icing is Whisper White cardstock that I smooched some Frost White Shimmer Paint.  The next step was to use my stampin pastels and a sponge to add some pretty in pink to the icing.  This techniques leaves a swirly icing texture and some shine.
The sprinkles were cut out with silver glitter paper and then I used three different reinkers to colour them.
I made a banner from whisper white and stamped my birthday greeting from swirls and curls verses.  And added some Jelly Bean brads.
I had a slight paper injury when I was making this card and got some blood on the top of my card  (ouch) so I added some of the organza ribbon that you can receive free during Sale-a-bration with a purchase of $60.  You also receive some buttons and some Lucky Limeaide organza in the set!

Valentine Blog Hop Week 4!

I have been busy creating cards for my family for Valentines Day this week and thought I would add them to Shirley's Blog Hop!
So here are a few cards that I came up with for the ones I love!

I found this great paper at Lasting Impressions!  It's by Bo Bunny and I just fell in love with it!  This card is made with a Basic Black Base and Real Red textured card stock.  I embossed a red piece of cardstock with a design and layered it with Black and the patterned paper from Bo Bunny.

I embossed the hearts as well and layered them with Patterned paper as well.  How cool is that embossing!!!
I know I do not stray from my beloved Stampin  UP! products often but I could not resist this paper!

Following along with the Bo Bunny trail here is another little design made with this awesome paper.  Black jewels in the corner of the textured white card stock set off this simple design.
The base of this square card is White Textured card stock. I layered patterned paper over top.  The center piece is a layer of Basic Black, Mirrored Card stock then a scallop squared Real Red then a piece of White textured Card stock.  The hearts are punched from a friends big kick die hearts One layer of mirrored Card Stock, then real red then patterned paper that has velvet emobossed into the pattern.
This is a cute little acrylic tag that I stamped with stazon black.  I layered Real red and patterned paper behind to give a really cool effect. A red jewel was placed  on one stamped heart.

Cute little sweet treats card. Inspired by Tami .  We did this  for art therapy with the Brain Injury Association and it was a huge hit!

Guest Designer Week! A-LA-Card-Monkey #95 AND HSS Challenge!

This week I had the honour of being a guest designer for A-La-Card Monkey challenge.  So I got the sketch and theme early and was able to create ahead of time to be featured on the monkey site for this week with some other wonderful designers.  Don't forget to go and check it out and play along of course!

Here is this weeks Sketch
Look at that cute little hamster dude!  He is so happy to be playing in the flowers!
I love a lot of things but one thing I love for cards are hearts!  You can use them for any occasion and they just make me smile.  I used the new Framelits hearts for my card this week and was able to do some really cool layering effects with them.

I am going to have this card do double duty this week and enter it into Shirley's Valentine Hop as well!

I started with a Basic Black card base and then added some DSP from Sweet Shoppe This paper is textured and has a great look to it. Next I used the largest heart in the Framlits and cut out a Wisteria Wonder heart then used the next size to create and opening in the heart and ran it through the big shot with the Polka Dots Embossing folder.  I cut out a large heart from the silver glitter paper and spritzed it with Wisteria wonder to give it a purple hue to match the card.
This Card Shines like crazy!
I hand cut the base of the arrow in Basic Black and added white trim stamped with pink hearts from the PS I love you Stamp set.
I used the retired double photo corners punch to create my arrow head and "feathers".  Over top of this I layered a Concorde Crush Heart cut with Framelits. Then I layered the heart with hearts stamp that I punched with the Large Heart punch.
I added a bow to the corner of my main layers.  Stamped a Cupid and layered it again and added the banner.
The Inside is plain white card stock spritzed with two different colours of Purple to jazz it up.  Also added some basic Rhinestones to the front for some more bling!

Hope you enjoy this weeks card

A LA Card Monkey! #94

Exciting news I was one of the cards picked last week to be a guest designer for A-LA-Card Monkey!!  EEEEK!!  Too cool!
So this week is Birthday Week for the Challenge which is great because we always need Birthday Cards!

The Sketch made me giggle and reminded me of my cats attitude.
You can check out the challenge HERE

Here is what I came up with for the challenge.  I attended a tutorial class for a new technique that involves clear tape sheets and fine glitter and copics.  So I wanted to change it up and make a Stampin UP! Technique but get the same sort of look-  after some trial and error I did it!  So love the look too!

The technique I am talking about it the ladybug panel.  It involves heat and stick powder and dazzling diamonds so you can just imagine the shine on this card!!!
The base of this card is Lucky Limeaid then a panel of Cherry Cobbler run through the Big Shot with a Cuttlebug embossing paisley folder.
I used the pleated ribbon from the New Mini in Pear Pizzaz.
I made the extra long tag by placing my stamped image in the back of the decorative label punch to create the decorative edge, very cool technique, especially if you love to layer large images that will not fit into the punch like I do.
The stamp is from the new Sale-a-bration set  called Outlined Occasions.  I just love the confetti look all around the words, makes it so festive.  I used Cherry Cobbler, Lucky Limeaid and Tempting Turquoise to the letters and of course some Dazzling Diamonds.  Next I added some linen thread to buttons from a Sale-a-bration button set there are 72 buttons in this set in cute patterns for fun embellishing your scrapbook pages and cards!
I continued with the Lady Bugs and the Paisley Embossing on the inside of the card.
Hope you enjoyed my take on the sketch this week

Another post for the Valentines Day Hop!

I made this last night when I was being an insomniac so I thought I would add it to the hop as well!

I think I got the Idea for this from Dear Lizzy but I have used mostly Stampin up products to make it!  Including the new Heart Framlits!  Loving these things -- They just let you layer and make cool things in a snap!

I think this would be a great project to do with kids as well!

Close up of a couple of the hearts.  I am thinking of distressing the edges though the more I look at it!
Enjoy!
