Tough Work

If you know me at all you know I kind of always think my work is not the best, although I am told differently often.  And never before have I had such anxiety as this past month trying to create thank you cards for my Brother to send out after the loss of his wife and my sister-in law Carolynn Causley Knowles -- I can hardly believe it has been 5 weeks already -- and our hearts are still aching with the loss - especially my brother of course - I cannot imagine the pain - and yet he goes on everyday with the girls and creates an amazing home and loving memories for his girls - he inspires me to be a better person -  I love him so much!
I was trying to come up with some masculine cards for my brothers colleagues from work who all flew in to be with him at the visitation and the funeral -- a great bunch of men!
Here is what I came up with.
I used Basic Black for the base, the a layer of natural , that I distressed the edge with the stampin up tool, then a thin layer of basic black again, then I cut out a 3x3 square of brushed gold, at 23/4x2 3/4 of Basic Black then a 2 1/2x 2 1/2 of very vanilla that I heat embossed with Black embossing powder the fancy Thank You.

I thought I had pictures of the other cards I already created but I guess I forgot and sent them to Chris's already!  Oh well!

Today I was not a Winner

I am sad to report that I did not make it onto the design team for My Pink Stamper - THIS TIME!   The designers were just absolutely amazing and I am quite the novice - so although I am very happy with my layout -- it did not make the cut - but that is ok  Next time I will do it!   In the mean time I get to learn from all the talented girls with their cricut wisdom!!  Especially Robyn!  Thank you for the chance and cannot wait to see all the new videos!

My Pink Stamper Design Team Entry

Hi everyone!  Hope all is well and you are enjoying the hot weather we are having.  I am so excited to have a chance to join the Design Team with Robyn over at My Pink Stamper.  I have admired her work for a long time and now that we are incorporating the amazing Cricut into our crafting this would be so awesome for me to work with some of the best!
So here is my entry
The recipe for this layout is as follows
Back ground paper is Water Waves from the Paper studio
I then used more mustard and tore the paper to look like sand,  I inked the edge of the paper with Early Espresso form Stampin Up.
I cut out the Letters in Daffodil Delight from the Cricut cartridge Cutting Up.
The Sand Castle and the sun was cut with the Cricut Cartridge Doodle Charms.  I used Creamy Carmel and chocolate chip for the castle and real red for the flag.  The sun is cut with Daffodil Delight and pumpkin pie orange.  I added Orange glitter also from Stampin up.
I then Stamped fish into the waves with Just Beachy in basic black,  the sand pail was stamped in Early espresso and used the Summer Splash stamp set from the new summer mini - I also used the turtle from the same set in Green Galore!  The Sandels are from Lifes a breeze and I used Tempting Turquoise  -  My son on the beach acting like a crab is the focus!  Loved making this layout - only wish I had more cartridges to work with but I just started playing with the cricut and love it!!!!
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
